Most of the singers were not professional singers at all so it was terrible to listen to them throughout the entire movie. How can you make a musical with one decent voice??!?!?! Yet, I honestly think that if it wasn't a musical it would have actually been a good movie !!!! It leaves you hanging on a few characters in the end. It doesn't even look like there is going to be a sequel. Don't waste your money with this one. I recommend the Golden Compass or Enchanted!

Oscar nominated and Golden Globe winner Johnny Depp collaberates again with director and long time Tim Burton to do a film 20 years in the making. Depp plays the infamous murderous barber Sweeny Todd A.K.A the " Demon barber of Fleet Street." In this grusomly, charming preformace with an all-star cast including three of the actors from the Harry Potter film series Which include Alan Rickman, Hellen Bonhan-Carter and Timothy Spall. To name A few. Also Sasha Baron Cohen provides a great proformance. This film works for both genders or does who just love the musical will be satisfied in my opinion. For the men Lots and I mean lots of blood. "There will be more blood than a season of E.R." as quoted by Mr. Depp in the November 9th issue of Entertainment weekly. For the Women duh Johnny Depp and he sings what more could you want. I believe this film will recieve golden globe and oscar nominations especialy in the Costume and make-up departments. I give Sweeny Todd 4 stars.

I saw an advance screen of Sweeney Todd on 12-19-07. I have to say that I am impressed. The movie was exactly like the musical. Tim burton made no changes at all and I am happy about that. The darkness of the settings as well as the acting was amazing. You really get a better appreation for the play once you see the movie because it enhances the creatitvity of the playwright. You do not have to see the play to enjoy the movie unless you want to know what is coming up. The darkness of the movie was more profound than in the play and it really shined. Depp was born to play sweeney todd. I had no clue that he could sing but what a surprise when he does. Give tim burton total freedom on his movies and this is the result. The blood and gore was not very realistic but it actually helped the movie. The orange colored blood came across as a good opposite counterpart to the darkness.Not a movie for kids but it is rated R. If you like musicals and gore, a must see, if not, see something else.

This movie could have been great. Great director, great cast, great plot, great cinematography, great costumes. Everything was there. So what went wrong? I?ll tel ya?. IT?S A MUSICAL. ATTENTION HOLLYWOOD...STRAIGHT GUYS DON?T LIKE MUSICALS. To make matters worse, anytime the movie became interesting, someone would break into a show tune. What could be more annoying? ARRRGH...so incredibly tedious. I can?t say that this is the worst movie I?ve ever seen. That wouldn?t be honest because I walked out after only 37 minutes. I want my $9 back.

This movie is unbelievable! Johnny Depp is brilliant (as usual) and his voice is simply compelling and perfect for the role. I am a huge Sondheim fan and give my stamp of approval! Tim Burton has created a masterpiece and deserves to be rewarded for it. It's time for the Academy to step up and give Depp the Oscar he so richly deserves and Burton as well. GO SEE THIS MOVIE!!!
